Just as you would expect from a highly desirable warm-weather vacation destination, Sanibel Island beaches offer miles of pristine shoreline that is clean and open to the public year round.
While it may be difficult, our guests are encouraged to pull themselves away from our luxury rental property's patio and pool by taking in some of the natural beauty of the area, set against the backdrop of unique sea shells and refreshing ocean water.
All Sanibel Island beaches charge a $2 per-hour parking fee, and Lee County requires that all pets be leashed and prohibits the consmption of alcoholic beverages from November through May.
Situated along the Gulf of Mexico, Bowman Beach offers miles of sand and crushed beaches for an excellent day under the sun or as a place to relax at dusk. If you're driving, plan on a five minute walk from the lot to beach, which welcomes you to a spacious coastal area that has seen minimal commercial or residential development abutting it. Additional amenities for visitors include picnic tables and grills, clean bathrooms and bike racks.
1700 Bowman's Beach Road
Located at the very end of Captiva Drive, Captiva Beach is the only beach accessible to the public on Captiva Island. As you would expect for one of the most quaint and relaxing vacation areas in all of Florida, Captiva Beach is a fantastic place to watch the sunset in near solitude as beach goers file out for the evening. If you're planning a day trip, understand that parking is extremely limited but well worth a self-imposed early morning wake-up call to ensure you get a spot with friends and family. Be sure to grab some food at one of Captiva Island's locally owned restaurants, all within walking distance of each other.14790 Captiva Drive
Gulfside City Park
Home to Algiers Beach, Gulfside City Park sits in a secluded area and is an excellent alternative to the more trafficked Sanibel Island beaches. Algiers Beach is adjacent to a portion of nature preserve that keeps it from being infringed upon by condominiums and resorts. Algiers Beach faces south, lending itself to some top-notch shelling. Kids and adults of all ages can comfortably cool off as the water level remains fairly shallow and calm year round. Algiers Lane
Lighthouse Beach
Just up the street from our luxury vacation rental, Lighthouse Beach is a must-visit for anyone spending time in Sanibel Island. Swimming at depths above your shoulders is not recommended due to causeway currents, but the beach has an abundance of shells, a fishing pier, and even access to nature trails that take you though some of the island's natural wetlands. Be sure to catch a glimpse of the historic lighthouse, which has been standing since the end of the Civil War.
112 Periwinkle Way
Do you like long, romantic walks on the beach? If you're spending time with that special someone, Turner Beach (part of "Blind Pass") is a must visit. There is very limited parking, so arrive early or late in the day to ensure you get a spot. Conclude your "date" with a visit to one of the area's restaurants, just a stone's throw away from the shoreline.17200 Captiva Drive
